    Ik vind dat een slecht plan. Als bedrijven gaan beleggen in hypotheken, dan beleggen ze dat geld niet meer in innovatie of economische bedrijvigheid, en dat is schadelijk voor onze economie.

    Dar gebeurt al lang. Een grote aanbieder wereldwijd is bv GMAC van General Motors (inmiddels in Nederland verzelfstandigd in CMIS). Dat is waarschijnlijk ooit begonnen voor de financiering van auto's en uitgegroeid tot een financiële instelling. Je ziet dat retailers zoals IKEA, Walmart en Tesco ook steeds dieper doordringen in financiële diensten. Simpele financiering, betaaldiensten, verzekeringen en uiteindelijk door naar meer complexe producten. De relevantie voor Nederland is dat er meer concurrentie komt op de hypotheekmarkt. Via de achterdeur van Stater is die concurrentie trouwens al binnen.
